Affiliation: The Union is affiliated to Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) and serves on its Executive Council through its constituent associations.
In Year 2004, the Ministry of Trade & Industry appointed GROCTEU to set up and manage the National Yam Pack House, designated as the single corridor infrastructure for the inspection, clearance and packaging of all yam sea shipments. The Regulatory Agencies; PPRSD and CEPS have permanent Offices at the location to undertake required clearances and certifications.
GROCTEU has established direct links with FBO’s in twenty-four major yam growing districts to support farmers produce quality yams that meet buyer requirements. FBO member farmers have in the last few years expanded their production, utilizing modern planting materials development (including yam mini setts) to produce standard yams for the local retail stores (Supermarkets) and for exports.
GROCTEU is supporting national efforts to streamline the administration of yam export trade and acts as official representative of yam farmers and exporters to protect their interest in yam policy development/directives/interventions. GROCTEU organizes training workshops, demonstrations, seminars and durbars to educate members and stakeholders in international best practices in yam export trade.
GROCTEU assist members with intelligence reports on the international market situation for yam trade and assists exporters to prepare for effective participation in international trade fairs.
GROCTEU provides information on sources of possible finance and equipment as part of efforts to encourage members venturing into yam processing for the local and external markets.
GROCTEU members’ companies which are small to medium in size have the capacity individually to meet yam order volumes from 5 to 500 tons per month.
Besides this, GROCTEU has a special company, GROCTEU Marketing Ltd, set up for members use to execute larger orders within specified delivery times and destinations.

The Ghana Yam Producers and Exporters Association was incorporated under the Ghana Company’s Code, 1963 Act 179 on the 2nd of June 1987.
GAFEA was formed in 1989 as a private sector member based organisation that groups and represents the interest of Ghanaian food exporters.
