GROCTEU at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2024

GROCTEU will once again participate in the 2023 edition of Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin, Germany from February 7-9, 2024. We meeting both old and new buyers of Fresh Ghana Yams.

Traceability Database for Yam Exports

A traceability database has been established and the existing manual system is been upgraded.

So far, a mobile App software and a QR code function are ready. Unlike other horticultural produce, Yam has many actors in the value chain and therefore is being looked at critically.

Our expectation is that by the next harvest season i.e. July to October 2020 a functional Traceability System will be rolled out.

Empowering Women in Agriculture

GROCTEU through the Yam Development Council (YDC) is in touch with the women Cocoa farmers in Ahafo region engaged in yam farming as supplementary income and has indicated its willingness to buy their exportable yams in 2020.

GROCTEU Farms

GROCTEU has established two (2) farms in the Kpandai district where new planting materials are being cultivated to produce clean yam seeds in addition to special yam sizes for export.

Training for members

GROCTEU is in discussion with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), an agency of the German Government to train selected members as trainers of trainers in Export Market Research for horticultural produce including yam in 2020.

GROCTEU in 2019 collaboration with the Yam Development Council (YDC) appealed to the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and had the financial sponsorship to conduct a 2-day training in good agronomic practices for selected farmers in 5 yam growing districts.
