GROCTEU is working with public and private sector Agencies to improve production and marketing within the Yam Export value chain with the objective to modernize production and handling.

Our focus is to create opportunities to the various companies within our membership Associations to achieve certification and traceability to comply with international best practices - important to building and sustaining our respective businesses over time.

In the year 2019, GROCTEU continued with its planned actions and with the support from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), registered additional farmers especially, those interested in conventional or organic farming.

On a plot basis, these Farmers have been supplied with clean planting materials with the view to improve the shelf-life of Ghana yam.

We have completed Project Development Schemes to start training farmers towards GlobalGAP Certification. Funding has been approved by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) for this activity which is expected to be completed by May 2020.

GROCTEU has established direct links with FBO’s in twenty-four major yam growing districts to support farmers produce quality yams that meet buyer requirements. FBO member farmers have in the last few years expanded their production, utilizing modern planting materials development (including yam mini setts) to produce standard yams for the local retail stores (Supermarkets) and for exports.

GROCTEU will once again participate in the 2024 edition of Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin, Germany from February 7-9, 2024. We meeting both old and new buyers of Fresh Ghana Yams.
